Should every J.W. be an evangelizer/preacher?
by The Searcher inaccording to the wtbts all 1st century christians were evangelizers/preachers, and by extension, all modern-day j.w.
's should be doing likewise.
(for the moment, let's ignore the org's own contradiction that only their elite anointed class are "ambassadors", and that the preaching work was assigned to them!

According to the WTBTS all 1st century Christians were evangelizers/preachers, and by extension, all modern-day J.W.'s should be doing likewise. (For the moment, let's ignore the org's own contradiction that only their elite anointed class are "ambassadors", and that the preaching work was assigned to them! (wt 98 12/15, p.18, par. 10)
it-1 p. 770 Evangelizer - "While all Christians are commissioned to be evangelizers....."
(Acts 21:8) "The next day we left and came to Caes·a·reʹa, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelizer."
(Ephesians 4:11) "And he gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelizers, some as shepherds and teachers...."
w13 5/15 p. 3 par. 3 - "Jesus commanded his (11) disciples to be evangelizers." (Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8)
w05 1/1 p. 13 par. 4 - "For almost three years, they.........(12 disciples) received training as evangelizers."
Why did Paul say that Jesus gave "some" as evangelizers - if every Christian was to be one?
Jesus never instructed one single person out of all the thousands he met - except his apostles - to become preachers, nor is there a single scriptural reference of any 1st century Christian women carrying out preaching work.
Philip had the distinction of being called an evangelizer. Why would Philip be uniquely described as an evangelizer if every 1st century Christian had the same function?

CO visits me today
by Chook ini'm at home and hear knock on door , i sneak and look i see two men and recognise one voice and go back into lonunge and ask wife ( who is inactive believer) does she want to speak to elders ,she says no ,then literally 3 minutes has pasted another knock the 3 minutes seemed like an eternity.
so brave heart me think fuck it i'll answer ,i invite them in for coffee, i recognise one older man he is a unique elder who i genuinely was fond of when i was in his name is andrew ,the other guy i didn't recognise we will call harry ( not real name australia doesn't have that many cos with his same name).
so i think to myself i will tread lightly and not cause to much of a fuss for the wife's sake, but my personality is very the opposite of treading lightly ,as you read my threads you will realise i'm not timid.

I truly admire your fearlessness. I'd just have used my prepared "firewall" - private & personal!
Honestly, I reckon the C.O. will advise the elders not to bother you, and to "let sleeping dogs lie" - as long you remain "sleeping."

I don't think I will be able to escape the JWs ...
by nevaagain ini know i will get a lot of backslash on this forum for saying this, but as it looks like, i won't ever be able to escape the jws.
i have been a born in, third generation jw and awoken in one way or another (i joined this forum 15 years ago) for a very long time.
but i have adapted to the jw lifestyle to a point where it does not bother me anymore.

It's so hard to visualise the self-inflicted mental, physical, and financial strains which living such an existence will inevitably bring.
You could easily live another 50 years. Have a read of "The Road Less Travelled" before you hand over your life to the org. Whatever happens, I wish you as peaceful a life as I myself enjoy.

Anybody else having trouble walking away?
by JW-Matrix inok...so i'm a 19 year old fifth generation jw.
mentality, i've been out of the "truth" since i was 16(woke up after i was baptized ironically), but on the outside i'm a model jw.
my parents are really devoted, my grandparents are super devoted, and so are my ants and uncles.

Welcome JW-Matrix.
Silence the "privilege-pushers" interrogations by telling them that when you feel ready for "responsibilities" in the org, you'll "take it in prayer to Jehovah."
Jokingly tell them that they'll be suggesting you get married next! They might get your point.
I wish you well with your college and future life & career.

@ Herelgo - Freddo nailed it: I'm so glad that this is not an ex-JW site, otherwise we'd lose the opportunity to communicate with active J.W.'s who need help and encouragement to examine/confirm their serious doubts about their masters in Brooklyn. They want reassurance and friendship, not ridicule, whereas the hierarchy deserves the opposite.

Today's Text - Jehovah is my helper!
by Divergent intuesday, october 18. jehovah is my helper; i will not be afraid.—heb.
13:6.. “people often comment about how happy jehovah’s witnesses are,” says a longtime elder in a developing country.
“they also notice that even poor witnesses are always nicely dressed and appear to be better off than others.” this harmonizes with the promise jesus made to those who put the kingdom first.

Ah, you forgot to mention that a non - Witness was "blessed" when he prayed to be shown where the leak was in a new building project - because he promised to study with J.W.'s if successful. (really appreciate it if someone could provide the reference for this one - can't trace it now)
Also, the Witnesses in Burma who abandoned their chickens in order to attend a 3-day convention, only to return and find that many of them had died - because they couldn't get anyone to look after them. However, within a year they were "blessed" with many more chickens. (2013 Yearbook Page 138)
What more proof do you need?

Selloff Hinted At Assembly
by thedepressedsoul inthe last talk at the assembly made an interesting statement, "we can show faith by following direction if we're asked to move to another kingdom hall for better use of dedicated christian funds".
this statement has everyone talking.
i spoke to multiple individuals and they heard the same thing at different assembly's.. i know they have been "evaluating" all kingdom halls the last year or two.
